Munich, Germany

As we said, the original festival is held in Germany, more specifically in Munich. From September 16 to October 3, the Munich festival is the largest in the world and also one of the first to kick off nonstop drinking, dancing and eating.

Cork, Ireland

Cork holds an Oktoberfest festival on the same dates as the one in Munich. Downes Pub in Waterford celebrates Oktoberfest every year, and the festivities culminate in an evening of live music with a wide selection of imported German beer.

Fredericksburg, Texas

Fredericksburg is best known for being home to the descendants of German immigrants who settled in Texas in the mid-19th century. Today the city shows off all its German heritage in September, with one of the best Oktoberfest celebrations in the United States!

Blumenau, Brazil

Brazil's large German population is very well represented in the city of Blumenau, Santa Catarina. Founded in 1850, the city is a "little Germany," with about 30 percent of its residents of German descent. Blumenau hosts the second largest Oktoberfest celebration in the world! The approximately 500,000 visitors who attend the annual celebration drink a mix of German beers and the classic Brazilian beer, Brahma.

Kitchener-Waterloo, Canada

Brisbane, Australia
