El Camino del Rey, Spain
What is arguably the best hike in Spain is a spectacular trail but some of it is not for the faint of heart, we'll say that right now. In fact, it's famous for its three-kilometer walkway along the steep walls of a narrow gorge at a height of 100 meters (and some parts of the walkway have glass floors!). If you don't feel up to tackling the footbridge (scary but absolutely safe), you can still enjoy the other 4 kilometers of trail between the rocks and the river that accompanies you every step of the way.

Plitvice Lakes National Park is one of Croatia's most popular tourist attractions. Home to beautiful wildlife, lakes and forests, the park has well-marked trails that range from an easy 3.5-kilometer walk to a difficult, eight-hour-long 18.3-kilometer walk that zigzags around waterfalls and over bridges. Either way, it's well worth the effort.
